Meet Lauren Barnett. She is the founder and director of Family Consultants of Westport. She is a Nationally Board Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She earned her MA in Counseling from NYU and has dedicated over 25 years to the counseling and mental health field.
Lauren realized there was a dire need to guide individuals, adults and families going through difficult times. She created FCW to expedite the right connections to the best psychological and behavioral health care providers. Her keen ability to ascertain valuable evidence-based treatment has been relied upon by professionals and clients. Lauren fills the void in the space connecting these individuals and families to the right professional treatment modalities.

She has focused her career on helping children, adolescents, and their families with their personal and interpersonal struggles. This extensive experience working with those balancing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges has developed her unique and intuitive ability to connect with adults, parents and children who are managing a wide range of needs to which she can offer invaluable insight and perspective, with discerning direction and support.
She is an author, a camp director, a school counselor, a mental health professional, and a parent. Her goal throughout all her roles and experiences has always been to help parents and their kids to better understand one another.
Lauren firmly believes that therapy is not a blanket solution. Not every therapist is best for every client and all psychological issues.
With the right therapist who can make the best connection, therapy can be incredibly successful. Lauren created FCW with the goal of breaking the barriers to accessing the right help for individuals and families from the start.
